Detroit Man Charged In Fatal Car Crash On Ewald Circle
Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Levonte* Deshawn Choice, 23 (DOB: 10/10/92), of Detroit, in connection with a fatal car crash. On September 27, 2016 at approximately 2:10 a.m., it is alleged that Choice was driving while intoxicated at Ewald Circle and San Juan in Detroit when he struck a tree, killing the 27-year-old male passenger in his car. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Choice has been charged with Reckless Driving Causing Death, Operating While Intoxicated Causing Death, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License Causing Death, Reckless Driving Causing Serious Impairment, Operating While Intoxicated Causing Serious Impairment, and Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License Causing Serious Impairment.
Choice was arraigned at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon before 36th District Court Magistrate Charles Anderson. The probable cause conference is scheduled for October 5, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.; the preliminary examination is scheduled for October 11, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Shannon Holmes in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $100,000 cash/surety bond.
