Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Lamar Pierre Odom, 30 (DOB: 12/24/85), of Detroit, in connection with a car crash that seriously injured a man and a woman who were members of a Belle Isle cycling group. On June 29, 2016 at approximately 11:00 a.m., it is alleged that the defendant was driving his car at the intersection of Parkside and West McNichols at a high rate of speed when he passed a car on the right side of the road, in violation of the law. When he attempted to stop his car to avoid hitting another car, he slid approximately 55 feet and struck the two victims while they were riding their bicycles. Both victims were seriously injured and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Odom has been charged with two counts of Driving While License Suspended Causing Serious Injury and two counts of Moving Violation Causing Serious Injury. He received a $250,000/10% bond. His probable cause conference will be held on August 2, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. and his preliminary examination is scheduled for August 8, 2016 at 9:00 a.m.; both hearings are before Judge Shannon Holmes in 36th District Court.
