Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Torrey Craft, 24 (DOB: 12/3/91) in connection with the non-fatal shooting of a seven-year-old boy on Fairfield Street in Detroit. On August 15, 2016, Craft had an argument with male relatives of the mother of his four-year-old daughter when they refused to let him into their home located in the Fairfield Manor housing complex. On August 16, 2016 at 10:00 p.m., Craft was in the 3600 block of Fairfield, in the courtyard area of the housing complex, when he observed the same male relatives. It is alleged that Craft fired a handgun in the direction of the males and hit a seven-year-old boy. The boy was injured in the groin area and transported to a local hospital where he is currently being treated.

Craft has been charged with three counts of Assault with Intent to Murder and Carrying a Weapon with Unlawful Intent and Felony Firearm. He is expected to be arraigned on Saturday, August 20, 2016 after 11:00 a.m., in 34th District Court in Romulus.
