Former Wayne County Treasurer's Office Employee Charged in Misdemeanor Sexual Assault Cases

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Dennis Patterson, 50 (1/17/66), of Detroit in connection with three separate allegations of Criminal Sexual Conduct Fourth Degree. Patterson was employed as a mail clerk with the Wayne County Treasurer's Office (WCTO) for approximately 16 years until June 20, 2016.

April 2016 Allegation in Detroit

On April 20, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. Patterson was working in the Treasurer's Office located in 400 Monroe Street in Detroit when it is alleged that he touched of a 44-year-old female WCTO employee in an inappropriate way while she was walking down a hallway. The incident was reported to the woman's supervisor. He has been charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct Fourth Degree, a two year misdemeanor. Patterson was arraigned received a $5000/10% bond today in 36th District Court. Today, his probable cause hearing was changed from August 11, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. to Friday, August 12, 2016. His preliminary examination is now on August 16, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Kenneth King.

September 2015 Allegation in Detroit

In September 2015 Patterson was working in the Treasurer's Office located in 400 Monroe Street in Detroit when it is alleged that he touched of a 49-year-old female WCTO employee in an inappropriate way while she was working in the office. The incident was reported to the woman's supervisor. He has been charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct Fourth Degree, a two year misdemeanor. Patterson was arraigned in 36th District Court today and received a $5000/10% bond today. He was arraigned and received a $5000/10% bond today in 36th District Court. Today his probable cause hearing was changed from August 11, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. to Friday, August 12, 2016 before Judge Kenneth King. His preliminary examination is now on August 16, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Kenneth King.

June 2016 Allegation in Westland

On June 18, 2016 Patterson was at the Nankin Mills area of Hines Park for a senior citizen event with other employees of the WCTO. At noon on the same day Patterson is alleged to have inappropriately touched a 45-year-old female WCTO employee while they were seated at a table in an information booth. The incident was reported to the woman's supervisor. He has been charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct Fourth Degree, a two year misdemeanor. Patterson was arraigned in 18th District Court in Westland on Wednesday August 3, 2016 and received a $50,000 cash/surety bond. His probable cause hearing is on August 11, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. before Judge Sandra Ciccarelli, and his preliminary examination is on August 18, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. before Judge Mark McConnell.

The bond remains unchanged for Patterson. His PCC date has been changed to August 10, 2016 and his preliminary examination is on August 18, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. before Judge Mark McConnell for the Westland case.

Detroit Man Charged in Homicide of His Wife

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged William Henry Lee, 61 (DOB: 6/29/54), in connection with the Homicide of his wife, Vanessa Lee, 61, both of Detroit.

On August 5, 2016 at approximately 8:10 p.m., Detroit police were called by a neighbor to the couple's home located in the 19100 block of Edgefield. Officers discovered the lifeless body of Mrs. Lee in the backyard and she was pronounced dead at the scene. The medical examiner ruled Mrs. Lee's death a homicide from blunt force trauma to the head. Investigation by the police led to the arrest of Defendant Lee on the same day. He was located inside the house with an injury to his hand.

The defendant was charged on Monday August 8, 2016 with Second Degree Murder and was arraigned in a local hospital on the same day in the afternoon. When he is released from the hospital, he will be remanded to jail. His probable cause conference will be held on August 15, 2016, at 8:30 a.m. and his preliminary examination will be held on August 22, 2016, at 1:30 both before Judge Patricia Jefferson.

Man Charged in Fatal Shooting Incident and Robbery

Today Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Jujuan Emel-Lamar Cash, 24 (DOB: 10/31/91), of Detroit in connection with the fatal shooting of Rajune Liruth-Georgian Watkins, 24, of Detroit. On August 7, 2016 at approximately 8:10 a.m., Defendant Cash went to the home he shared with his 23-year-old brother in the 18600 block of Meyers. It is alleged that Cash began shooting at his 23- year-old brother and fatally shot the brother's 24-year-old female friend while they were lying in bed. The 23-year-old brother ran from the house to a Home Depot located in the 18700 block of Meyers. Cash chased him on foot and the brother ran to the rear of the store. While in the store, Cash approached a 23-year-old clerk at a cash register and demanded money from him at gunpoint. The clerk gave Cash money from the register and Cash left the gun on the floor and fled on foot back to his home.

On the same day, the police were called to the Cash's home on Meyers where they discovered the lifeless body of Ms. Watkins and arrested Defendant Cash. Ms. Watkins was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds. Cash's 23-year-old brother suffered a gunshot wound to the chin and the left arm and is currently being treated in a local hospital.

Cash has been charged with First Degree Murder, Assault with Intent to Murder, Armed Robbery and Felony Firearm. He was arraigned today at 36th District Court and remanded to jail. His probable cause conference will be held on August 18, 2016 at 8:30 and his preliminary examination is on August 25, 2016 at 1:30 p.m., both before Judge Shannon Holmes.

Grosse Ile Juvenile Respondent Charged - A juvenile male who was 16 at the time the crime was committed and when the case was charged, will face one count of Killing/Torturing an Animal and one count of Animal Cruelty. The juvenile was on the Grosse Ile high Lacrosse team. He was with Defendants Coolsaet and Roth on April 30, 2016 when he is alleged to have stabbed the guinea pig with a knife.

The pre-trial conference has been re-scheduled for September 7, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. before Referee Viola King at the Lincoln Hall of Justice. In juvenile court the penalty for the offense is determined by the judge upon conviction.
