Detroit Man Charged with Indecent Exposure in Three Cases
Today Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy has charged Mario Robert James, 39 (DOB 6/12/74) in connection with exposing himself to 12-year-old girls in three separate incidents.
April 7, 2014 - Incident at LaSalle and Calvert
On April 7, 2014 at approximately 7:30 a.m., a 12-year-old girl was walking to Durfee School when she was approached on LaSalle and Calvert by a man driving a truck. It is alleged that he drove up to the girl and exposed his penis to her. The girl ran to school and immediately reported the incident to security. He has been charged with Aggravated Indecent Exposure, a two-year misdemeanor.
April 10, 2014 - Incident at LaSalle and Calvert at 7:10 a.m. and Incident at Fullerton and Indiana at 8:20 a.m.
On April 10, 2014 at approximately 7:10 a.m., a 12-year-old girl was walking to Durfee School when she was approached at LaSalle and Calvert Streets by James, who was driving a truck. It is alleged that James pulled up to the girl and exposed his penis to her. The girl immediately reported the incident and indicated that she recognized the defendant as the same person who exposed himself to her on April 7, 2014.
Later on April 10th at 8:20 a.m., another 12-year-old girl was walking to Noble School when she was approached by a man in a truck at Fullerton and Indiana Streets. It is alleged that James exposed his penis to her. The girl tried to get the license plate number and ran to school and immediately reported the incident.
For both April 10th incidents, James has been charged with one count of Accosting Children for Immoral Purposes, a four-year felony and two counts of Aggravated Indecent Exposure, a twoyear misdemeanor.
May 28, 2014 - Incident at Lyndon and Sussex in Detroit
On May 28, 2014 at approximately 8:15 a.m., a 12-year-old girl was walking to Burns School when she was approached near Lyndon and Sussex Streets by the defendant who was driving a truck. It is alleged that he drove up to the girl and exposed his penis to her and asked her to enter his truck. The girl ran to her school and immediately reported the incident. He has been charged with Accosting Children for Immoral Purposes, a four-year felony and two counts of Aggravated Indecent Exposure, a two-year misdemeanor.
Investigation by the Detroit Police Department, in conjunction with the Detroit Public Schools Police, led to the arrest of James. James is expected to be arraigned at 36th District Court at 2:30 p.m. today. Please confirm the arraignment time with the court.

Kadia Konate-Dennard - Worker charged with the alleged beating of a vulnerable adult woman in a group home on Strathmoor in Detroit. Kanote-Dennard has been charged with one count of vulnerable adult abuse, two counts of assault with intent to commit great bodily harm and two counts of felonious assault. Today the defendant was bound over as charged and a count of torture was added. Defendant remains in custody and the arraignment on the information is scheduled for June 12, 2014 in Third Circuit Court.
