Mateen Cleaves - WCPO appealed the dismissal of the case by the 67th District Court judge to the 7th Circuit Court. Today WCPO prevailed in the appeal. No new dates have been announced by the court.

Detroit Woman Charged in Non-Fatal Stabbing at Rouge Park

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Shadivia Keausiatyke Phillips, 21, (DOB: 08/31/1995), in connection with the non-fatal stabbing that occurred in Rouge Park in Detroit.

It is alleged that on April 9, 2017 at approximately 7:20 p.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to Plymouth Road and Burt Road. At this location, the officers made contact with the victim, a 30-year-old Detroit female, who was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries. It is also alleged that earlier in the evening, an altercation occurred between the victim and the defendant, and it is alleged the victim sustained a non-fatal stab wound during that altercation.

Investigation by Detroit Police officers led them to Shadivia Keausiatyke Phillips. She has been charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm and Felonious Assault.*

Phillips was arraigned this morning before Magistrate Charles Anderson. The probable cause conference is scheduled for April 19, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. The preliminary examination is scheduled for April 26, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Lydia Nance Adams in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $250,000 cash/surety bond.

Detroit Teen Charged in Homicide

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Allen Alexander Tabb, 16 (DOB: 07/06/2000), of Detroit, in connection with the homicide of an adult male, 49, also of Detroit. Tabb is adultdesignated in Juvenile Court.

On April 6, 2017, Detroit police officers were dispatched to a property in the 9600 block of Manor Street in Detroit. Officers discovered the victim on the front porch of the property, suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment, but succumbed to his injuries.

Investigation by Detroit police officers led them to Tabb. He has been charged with Murder – Second Degree and Felony Firearm.* He is expected to be arraigned today at 1:30 in the Juvenile Detention Facility located at 1326 St. Antoine in Detroit.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Detroit Man Charged in Arson and Attempted Murder

Prosecutor Worthy has charged Diallo Sekou Alexander, 40 (DOB:6/15/1976) of Detroit in connection with the arson and attempted murder that occurred at an apartment building in Detroit. On April 9, 2017 Alexander received an eviction notice at his apartment located in the 15700 block of Detroit. On April 10, 2017 at approximately 1:00 p.m. it is alleged that Alexander was observed in the doorway of his apartment and shortly thereafter smoke was observed coming from his apartment. Detroit firefighters were called to the scene and assisted tenants exiting the building.

This afternoon Alexander was charged and arraigned in 36th District Court with First Degree Arson and Attempted Murder.* WCPO has not received the bond or next court dates at this time.

Thirteen-year-old Juvenile Respondent D-16523912 - This is an updated to the case where a 13 year old shot another 13-year-old boy playing with his grandmother’s gun on a snow day from school. It appears on page 30 of the Weekly Case Update. The respondent pled guilty on April 13, 2017 to Manslaughter - Death By Weapon Aimed with Intent but without Malice. The Felony Firearm and Firearm - Careless Discharge Causing Injury or Death charges were dismissed. He was remanded pending a clinical evaluation. The next court date is May 16, 2017.

Keith Appling – Judge Lawrence Talon denied Appling’s motion to suppress his statement, suppress the weapon, and marijuana on the Dearborn case 16-007054. A new pre-trial date has been set for May 9, 2017 at 9:00 a.m.
