New Criminal Sexual Conduct (CSC) Warrant Received - WCPO has just received a warrant in connection with a 34-year old person of interest for a May 7, 2019, CSC that occurred on the east side of Detroit. The matter Is being reviewed and there will not be a charging decision today. No further information regarding this matter will be released today.

Detroit Man Charged in Non-Fatal Stabbing and Sexual Assault of Woman

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Deangelo Kenneth Martin, 34 (DOB5 0/30/1985), of Detroit, in connection with a sexual assault of a 26-year-old Detroit woman. On May 7, 2019, at 1:40 a.m. at a house on the eastside of Detroit it is alleged that Martin stabbed and sexually assaulted the victim.

Martin has been charged with one count of Assault with Intent to Murder, and four counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct First Degree.* Martin was arraigned and remanded to the Wayne County Jail today in 36th District Court. His Probable Cause Conference will be on June 20, 2019, and his Preliminary Examination will be on June 25, 2019 before Judge Lynise Bryant-Weeks. Mr. Martin does not have an attorney at this time.

The Detroit Police Department investigation related to this defendant is ongoing. The facts and evidence in this case will be presented on the record in court. No further information will be released at this time.

Diamond Greenwood and Terry Catchings - Off-duty police officer and her brother charged in the October 27, 2018 non-fatal shooting that occurred during a wedding reception in Detroit. The preliminary examination date has been adjourned from June 11, 2019 until June 18, 2019 at the request of Greenwood's attorney.

Detroit Man Charged in Fatal Car Crash with Teen on Mini Bike

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Decarious Terrell Davis-O'Neal, 24 (DOB: 07/12/1994), of Detroit, in connection with the fatal car crash that killed a 15-year-old Detroit male.

On June 12, 2019 at approximately 7:10 p.m., Detroit police responded to a call regarding a two vehicle car crash on Helen Street near Robinwood Street in Detroit. Upon arrival, the officers discovered the 15-year-old victim in a driveway in the 18600 block of Helen Street. Detroit EMS transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries.

It is alleged that the defendant was traveling northbound on Helen Street at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle, striking the victim. At the time, the victim was sitting stationary on a mini bike, on the sidewalk in front of a nearby house. Investigation by the Detroit police led to the arrest of the defendant at the scene. Facts and evidence of the case will be presented at the Preliminary Examination.

Davis-O'Neal has been charged with Reckless Driving Causing Death a felony with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.* This afternoon WCPO was informed that the defendant would be arraigned on Saturday, June 15, 2019 in Romulus because the warrant was processed so late in the day. However, WCPO has recently been informed that he was arraigned this afternoon before 36th District Court Magistrate Millicent Sherman. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for June 24, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for July 1, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Kenyetta Stanford-Jones in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $1,000,000 cash/surety bond. A photograph of the defendant is attached.
