Redford Teen Charged With Accosting of Three-Year-Old Boy

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Timothy Anthony-Gabouri Austin, 17, (DOB: 07/20/2001), of Redford, in connection with accosting a three-year-old toddler boy. A 17-year-old is an adult under Michigan law.

On April 17, 2019 at approximately 6:47 p.m., Redford police were dispatched to the area of Lola Street and Garfield in Redford Township regarding an incident that was in progress. Upon arrival, a Redford police officer observed a stroller near a bridge. Investigation by the officer led under the bridge, where it is alleged that the defendant was accosting the infant. It is further alleged that Austin had removed some of his clothing while he was with the child. The defendant was arrested at the scene. The infant was transported to a local hospital for examination.

Austin has been charged with Accosting for Indecent Purposes, a felony with a maximum penalty of four years in prison, and Indecent Exposure, a one year misdemeanor.* He was arraigned out-county on Saturday, April 20, 2019 in 34th District Court in Romulus. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for April 30, 2019 at 8:40 a.m. before 17th District Court Judge Karen Khalil. The Preliminary Examination is scheduled for May 7, 2019. The defendant received a $1,000 personal bond.
