Mother and Son Charged in 2016 Detroit Murder Case
Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Beatrice Flint-Tennyson, 68 (DOB: 05/17/1951), of Farmington Hills, and her son Delbert Flint, 46 (DOB: 08/26/1972), of St. Joseph, Missouri, in connection with the 2016 murder of Ms. Flint-Tennyson's husband and Mr. Flint's step-father Darvin Tennyson, 60, of Farmington Hills.
On March 19, 2016, Mr. Tennyson went to work and returned home in Farmington Hills, never to be seen again. On March 20, 2016 at 5:15 a.m., Detroit firefighters and police officers responded to Victoria Street and St. Aubin because a citizen reported hearing a loud explosion and, looking outside, seeing a car on fire. Firefighters discovered an unidentified male in the trunk of a car while extinguishing the fire. The victim, later identified as Mr. Tennyson, was pronounced dead at the scene. Extensive investigation by the Detroit police and fire officials led to the identification and arrest of Defendants Flint-Tennyson and Flint. The facts and evidence in the case will be presented on the record in court at the Preliminary Examination.
Beatrice Flint-Tennyson and Delbert Flint have each been charged with Open Murder, Tampering with Evidence and Dead Bodies - Disinterment and Mutilation.*
Defendant Flint-Tennyson was arraigned on April 21, 2019, and remanded to jail. She is scheduled for a Probable Cause Hearing on May 1, 2019 and a Preliminary Examination on May 7, 2019 at 1:30 p.m., both before Judge Cylenthia Miller. Defendant Delbert Flint was taken into custody yesterday. Today he was arraigned and remanded to jail. His Probable Cause conference will be held on May 1, 2019 in 36th District Court.
