Detroit Man Charged in Midtown Non-Fatal Shooting

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Trevaun Marquise Pearson, 25 (DOB: 05/25/1993), of Detroit, in connection with the non-fatal shooting of Kenneth Taylor-Riser, age 30, also of Detroit.

On April 3, 2019 at approximately 12:35 p.m., City of Detroit Transit Officers discovered a group of people in the area of 3800 Woodward Avenue near Selden in Midtown Detroit. The officers found the victim lying in the street with significant facial injuries. Medics arrived on the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

It is alleged that the defendant fled the scene on foot. Investigation by Detroit police officers led to the apprehension of Pearson. Facts and evidence of the case will be presented at the Preliminary Examination.

Pearson has been charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Felony Firearm.*

He was arraigned this afternoon before 36th District Court Magistrate Bari Blake Wood, The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for April 18, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.; the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for April 25, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. Both hearings are before Judge Cylenthia Miller in 36th District Court. The defendant received a $200,000 cash/surety bond. Please contact the Detroit Police Department for a photograph of the defendant.
