Taylor Woman Will Not be Charged in Fatal Shooting
at Marathon Gas Station
A 40-year-old Taylor woman will not be charged in connection with the fatal shooting of an acquaintance, Tanya Marie Davidson, 40, of Taylor, at Marathon Gas Station.* It has been determined that she acted in lawful self-defense when she fatally shot Ms. Davidson.
On November 16, 2018, at approximately 12:02 p.m., Taylor police officers received a shots fired call and were dispatched to a Marathon gas station located in the 22300 block of Ecorse Road in Taylor, MI. Upon arrival, officers were advised that a physical altercation occurred between two women inside the gas station. A review of the facts and evidence in the case show that the shooter, who is an armed CPL holder, was physically attacked by Ms. Davidson. During the attack, she fired her weapon, striking Ms. Davidson one time. Ms. Davidson was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
After a thorough review of the facts and evidence the warrant has been denied because there is insufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the shooter committed a crime, and that she was not acting lawful self-defense.
*Note: It has been erroneously reported by news sources that earlier in the day on November 16, 2018, that Ms. Davidson and the 40-year-old shooter engaged in a previous altercation at a local Tim Horton's. This was investigated by the police and there was no evidence to support this allegation.
