Juvenile Charged in Fatal Stabbing Death at
Taylor Knights of Columbus Hall

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged and adult designated juvenile Giannfranco Delgado, 16, (DOB: 04/14/2003) of Southgate, in connection with the fatal stabbing of Cameron Petty, 17, of Detroit. An adult designation means that, upon conviction, the judge has the option of sentencing the defendant as a juvenile, or as an adult, or blending a juvenile and an adult sentence.

On the evening of July 6, 2019, a graduation party was held at a Knights of Columbus Hall located in the 24900 block of Brest in Taylor. At approximately 10:54 p.m. on the same night, a large fight broke out. It is alleged that a Delgado stabbed two young men and fatally stabbed Mr. Petty. Mr. Petty was pronounced deceased at a local hospital. The two other victims were taken to a local hospital and treated for their wounds.

Delgado has been charged and adult designated on the following charges: Second Degree Murder and two counts of Assault with Intent to Murder.* He was arraigned at the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility located at 1326 St. Antoine in Detroit Saturday, July 13, 2019 before Referee Sean Kerman. A Preliminary Examination is scheduled for July 16, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. before Judge Edward Joseph at the Lincoln Hall of Justice. Delgado was remanded.

*The charges are allegations and defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
