I am saddened to hear of the passing of my great friend and county colleague, Wayne County Sherriff Benny Napoleon. Benny demonstrated his great leadership skills throughout his 40 plus years in law enforcement, working his way through the ranks of the Detroit Police Department to become Chief of Police and then Wayne County Sheriff. He was passionate about serving the community he grew up in and loved. Benny's hard work, smile and calm demeanor caused the community to love him in return. The City of Detroit and Wayne County have lost an icon and he will be missed. My family sends sincere condolences, love and prayers to his family and loved ones.
