Elizabeth Park

Welcome to Elizabeth Park, the first County Park in the State of Michigan.

This 162-acre family estate was bequeathed to the Wayne County Park Trustees in October of 1919 by the children of Elizabeth Slocum. The acceptance of this special gift marks the beginning of the Wayne County Park System. Elizabeth Park sits like an emerald jewel along the banks of the Detroit River, and features over 1,300 feet of riverwalk for fishing and river watching. In addition Elizabeth Park also offers activities such as softball, cycling, in-line skating, hiking, cross-country skiing and ice skating.

There are two picnic shelters, one ball diamond and two park areas available for rental located at this park. In addition, there are three bridges available to rent for weddings. You can bring your children on the weekends for a pony ride or a stroll along the shoreline. We encourage you to attend our special events at Elizabeth Park, such as Somewhere in Time, where you can take a stroll back in time to the late 1920's or Jazz on the River, where you can sit on the river and listen to the best music in town.

A 52-slip transient marina and boat launch are also located along the shoreline of this picturesque park. For more information on the marina, please click HERE.

Within the grounds of Elizabeth Park, Chateau on the River is a unique rental venue along the Detroit River. The building features marble bathrooms, a riverview terrace, and cockatil/reception space adjacent to the Main Hall. The Main Hall has a capacity for 190 guests and features a state of the art AV system including twin projectors and sound system that can sync'd for music.
