Jonathan C. Kinloch!

Commissioner Jonathan C. Kinloch is a dedicated public servant, currently serving his second term as a Wayne County Commissioner. He holds a significant role as the Chair on the Committee on Ways and Means, and is an active member of several other committees including the Committee on Public Service, Committee on Economic Development, and the Committee on Public Safety, Judiciary & Homeland Security.

Commissioner Kinloch serves as Vice Chair of the Special Committee on The Criminal Justice Complex and is a member on the Special Committee on Behavioral Health. His work in these committees helps ensure fair and equitable treatment for all residents, particularly in areas of criminal justice and mental health. His dedication to these issues contributes to the overall well-being and safety of the community.

In addition to his commissioner duties, Commissioner Kinloch is a member of the Board of Directors for the Wayne County Economic Development Corporation and the Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN), also known as the Wayne County Mental Health Authority. His leadership extends to his role as Vice Chair of DWIHN's Recipient Rights Advisory Committee and his membership in the Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Oversight Policy Board of Directors. He also holds the position of Chairman of the Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority and serves on the Detroit Board of Water Commissioners.

Commissioner Kinloch's past service includes roles on the Wayne County Planning and Development Commission, the Detroit Board of Zoning Appeals, Detroit Public Library Commission, and the Detroit Board of Education. He also served on the Wayne County Board of Canvassers, where he gained national attention in November 2020 for his resistance to efforts to not certify Wayne County's 2020 Presidential Election results. His tenure on the Detroit Board of Education was marked by the introduction of several enduring policies, including the establishment of the Office of Inspector General and the DPS Police Department.

Beyond his public service roles, Commissioner Kinloch has also worked as the Southeast Michigan Community Liaison to Michigan's Governor Gretchen Whitmer and as Political Director for Service Employees International Union-Healthcare Michigan (SEIU). He is currently the president of The Kinloch Group, Inc., a multifaceted media and public policy consulting company.

Representing approximately 116,000 residents living in County Commission District 2, which includes numerous Detroit neighborhoods, Commissioner Kinloch is deeply committed to his community. He continues to volunteer and lend his support to various local and national causes.

Commissioner Kinloch's influence extends nationally as he serves on the U.S Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC) Michigan Advisory Committee, is Vice Chair of the Finance, Pensions, and Intergovernmental Affairs Steering Committee, and is Vice Chair of the Large Urban County Caucus (LUCC) for the National Association of County Officials (NACO).

He is also Chair of the 13th Congressional District Democratic Party, and the 3rd Vice Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party. His faith is an integral part of his life, and he is a member of Triumph Church in Detroit.
