Ferndale Man Charged in Fatal Stabbing of Detroit Man
Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Christopher Allen Baldridge, 37, of Ferndale, in connection with the fatal stabbing of Justin Karaba, 24, of Detroit.
On September 18, 2023, at approximately 11:28 a.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to the area of West Vernor Highway and Central Street for a reported shooting. Upon their arrival, officers located the victim on the sidewalk suffering from multiple stab wounds. Medics arrived on the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
It is alleged that a physical altercation between the victim and the defendant escalated, and Defendant Baldridge produced a knife and stabbed Mr. Karaba multiple times, fatally injuring him, before fleeing the scene. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of the defendant on September 19, 2023.
Christopher Allen Baldridge has been charged with First-Degree Murder. *
He was arraigned and remanded to jail this morning in 36th District Court before Magistrate Laura Echartea. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for October 5, 2023, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for October 12, 2023, at 1:45 p.m., before Judge Kenneth King.
