Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Iesha Harris, 30, of Southfield, in connection with the death of a three-year-old girl. Defendant Harris is a friend of the child's mother who was babysitting the child at the time of her death.

On March 17, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., at a residence in the 15700 block of Southfield Freeway in Detroit, it is alleged that Defendant Harris fatally assaulted the child. The child was privately transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased. The child died from blunt force trauma caused by the defendant. More complete facts and evidence will be placed on the record in court at the preliminary examination in the case.

Iesha Harris has been charged with Felony Murder and First-Degree Child Abuse.*

She was arraigned and remanded to jail on March 20, 2024, in 36th District Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for March 27, 2024, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for April 1, 2024, at 1:45 p.m., before Judge Kenneth King.
